The Flamingos Head Coach Hakeem Busari has called for focus, discipline and consistency as Nigeria prepare to face Burkina Faso in their third game of the competition.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Busari stressed the importance of taking the tournament one game at a time, with the Flamingos continuing to build towards both the continental competition and the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

“It is a game after a game. For consistency, it is five games to be at this continental competition and also seven games for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup,” Busari said.

The Coach insisted that Nigeria will not underestimate Burkina Faso, while also acknowledging that the opponents will approach the encounter with the same level of determination.

“We are not looking down on any team, and we know they are not looking down on us too. We want to approach every game with the same mind, the same attitude, character and discipline,” he added.

Busari also highlighted the competitive nature of African football, noting that no team can be considered champions until the final day of the competition.

“Everyone is still champion until the last day. It is not over yet,” he said, while praising the CAF board and the organisers for what he described as the dynamic shift in African football.

With the Flamingos using the competition as part of their preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Busari believes the tournament provides an important opportunity for the players to gain valuable experience.

“It is important to prepare for the World Cup, but this competition has the opportunity to challenge us. We have to put in more attitude and perform better than we have, as we hope to get the victory again,” he said.

The Flamingos will now look to turn their coach’s words into action as they face Burkina Faso, with Nigeria aiming to maintain their momentum and continue their push for success in the competition.
