Nigeria U-20 Women’s National Team head coach, Moses Aduku, has praised his players for their hard work and strong mentality after the Falconets defeated host nation Poland 1-0 in a warm-up match ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Speaking after the game, Coach Aduku acknowledged the quality of the Polish team, describing the hosts as physically fit, tactically sound and a strong side.
According to the coach, the Falconets had to put in extra effort to complete the task and secure the important victory.
The win was a positive result for Nigeria, but Aduku believes there is still work to be done before the start of the global competition.
The Coach noted that the team created several opportunities during the match but failed to make the most of many of their chances. He explained that finishing is one of the areas the technical crew will continue to work on during the remaining preparation period.
Despite the missed chances, Aduku was pleased with the overall performance and described the result as a good step for the team.
He also made it clear that the main reason for the Falconets’ presence in Poland is the World Cup, and the team has arrived with a strong ambition to compete from the beginning of the tournament until the end.
Aduku stressed that Nigeria did not come to the competition as a pushover. Instead, the Falconets are in Poland to compete and challenge for the trophy, while taking the tournament one game at a time.
The Coach also highlighted the mentality of his players, saying they are currently focused on trying to win every game they play.
That mentality was evident against Poland as the Falconets fought for the victory despite facing a strong and physically demanding opponent.
With the warm-up match now behind them, the Nigerian team will turn their attention to the upcoming international friendlies as they continue to prepare for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Falconets will face South Korea U-20 in their next international friendly on Tuesday, September 1, at the Remes Resort & Spa Football Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 PM Nigerian time.
For Coach Aduku and his players, the remaining preparation period will be focused on improving their finishing, correcting mistakes and building a stronger team before the World Cup begins.
The Falconets have made it clear: they are in Poland to compete, fight for every result, and give themselves the best chance to go far in the tournament.
