Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have intensified preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, with the squad putting in high-tempo training sessions as they gear up for another campaign on the global stage.

The Falconets booked their place at the tournament after defeating Malawi in the final round of the African qualifiers, extending a remarkable record of qualifying for every edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since the competition was introduced in 2002.

With expectations once again high, Head Coach Moses Aduku and his technical crew are focused on fine-tuning the team’s tactics, improving match fitness, and building cohesion ahead of the competition, which runs from September 5 to September 27, 2026.

The latest training sessions have been characterized by intensity, discipline, and healthy competition among the players. Tactical drills, attacking combinations, defensive organization, and finishing exercises dominated the sessions as the coaching staff sought to sharpen every aspect of the team’s play.

The players displayed determination and commitment throughout training, fully aware of the challenge that lies ahead against some of the world’s best youth teams.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group F, where the Falconets will face European giants Spain, Asian powerhouse China, and New Caledonia in what promises to be a fiercely competitive group.

The Falconets will begin their campaign against Spain on September 7, before taking on China on September 10, and concluding their group-stage fixtures against New Caledonia on September 13.

Nigeria heads into the tournament with a proud history in the competition. The Falconets have twice reached the final, finishing as runners-up in 2010 and 2014, while consistently establishing themselves as one of Africa’s strongest representatives on the world stage.

As preparations continue, the team’s objective remains clear, to progress beyond the group stage and challenge for what would be Nigeria’s first FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup title.
