Ahead of the second-leg clash against Comoros in the African Olympic Qualifiers, Super Falcons Forward Uchenna Kanu says the team’s focus is on winning the next game while keeping the bigger picture in mind which is qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and pushing hard for the gold medal.

At the pre-match press conference ahead of the return leg against Comoros, Super Falcons Forward Uchenna Kanu said competing at the Olympic Games remains a driving ambition for herself and the squad.

“For me, playing at the Olympics is huge personally and I believe it is the same for my teammates. Our target is not just to qualify for the Olympics, but to go there and compete for a medal,” Kanu said.

Confident about the team’s readiness, the attacker commended the positive vibe in camp ahead of the game.
“We have a good team and we have been preparing very well. The mood in camp has been positive and everyone has been enjoying it,” she added.

Having netted Nigeria’s second goal in the 2-0 first-leg victory with a 60th-minute header from Jennifer Echegini’s corner, Kanu said the Falcons are determined to secure another win before their home fans.
“We want to win again and score as many goals as possible,” she said.

The Super Falcons head into the return leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, with a two-goal advantage as they continue their push for a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
