ROAD TO MOROCCO 2026: FLAMINGOS UNVEIL 21-PLAYER WORLD CUP SQUAD

Nigeria’s U-17 Women’s National Team, the Flamingos, have announced their 21-player squad for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

The squad includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, five midfielders and six forwards as Head Coach Hakeem Busari finalises his team for the global tournament.

In goal, Jane Ijirigho of Nasarawa Amazons, Mercy Felix of Obosa FA and Onyinyechi Opara of Delta Queens have been selected.

The defensive department features Elizabeth Adesuyi of Pacesetter Queens, Esther Stephen of Unification Ladies, Chidera Oparanmegwa of Delta Queens, Azeezat Oduntan and Rodiat Yusuf of Robo Queens, Opeyemi Sunday of Nasarawa Amazons and Kaosarat Akanji of Dreamstar Ladies.

The midfield options are Awawu Bashiru of Confluence Queens, Mary Dustan of Imo Strikers, Muinat Rotimi of Nakamura Academy, Favour Nkwocha of Robo Queens and Shakirat Tobiloba of Remo Stars Ladies.

Leading the attacking options are Tosin Rafiu of Robo Queens, Flamingos captain Harmony Chidi of Bayelsa Queens, Oluebube Umejiaku of Heartland Queens, Queen Joseph of Fosla Academy, Precious Oscar of Edo Queens and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi of Robo Queens.

Several members of the squad were also part of Nigeria’s successful 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup campaign, where the Flamingos emerged champions after an unbeaten run.

The team has now completed its final preparations in Nigeria and will depart for Morocco as the Flamingos turn their attention to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
