The Super Falcons Legend Defender Osinachi Ohale has begun a new chapter in her football career after joining Italian side Como 1907 Women during the summer transfer window, following her retirement from international football with Nigeria.

Born in 1991, Ohale arrives at the BiancoBlu after her spell with Mexican club Pachuca, bringing extensive domestic and international experience to the Italian side as she continues her club career.

Ohale’s football journey began in Nigeria in 2008 and has since taken her across several countries, including the United States, Sweden, Spain and Mexico. She previously played in Italy with AS Roma in 2020 before returning to the country to join Como 1907.

Her arrival has been welcomed by the club’s technical director, Nils Nielsen, who highlighted her experience, defensive awareness and individual qualities as important additions to the team.

“Osinachi is a very experienced and good defender. Representing Nigeria for more than 15 years, many as captain, her international experience is extremely valuable for us,” Nielsen said.

He also praised her positioning, one-on-one defending and aerial ability, expressing confidence that her qualities would benefit the team.

Speaking about her move, Ohale expressed happiness at returning to Italy and beginning a new experience with Como.
“I’m happy to return to Italy and embark on this new experience here in Como; I have a very positive feeling about it. I’m ready to do whatever the coach asks of me to help the team,” she said.

While her club career continues, Ohale’s retirement from the Super Falcons marks the end of a significant chapter in Nigerian women’s football. Over more than 15 years of international service, she became one of the country’s most experienced defenders, representing Nigeria at four FIFA Women’s World Cups and seven Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournaments.
She also won five continental titles with the Super Falcons, contributing to Nigeria’s continued dominance in African women’s football.

Ohale’s international career was defined by her defensive reliability, experience and commitment to the national team across multiple generations. Her retirement brings an end to years of service in the green and white, but her move to Como 1907 offers an opportunity to continue competing at club level and share her experience in a new environment.
