MATCHDAY: SUPER FALCONS BEGIN LA 2028 OLYMPIC QUALIFYING CAMPAIGN AGAINST COMOROS

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will begin their journey towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games on Friday as they face Comoros in the second round of the women’s football Olympic qualifiers.

The encounter is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Nigerian time at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, as Nigeria look to make a positive start to their qualifying campaign.

Under Interim Head Coach Austin Eguavoen, the Super Falcons have completed their preparations for the first-leg fixture, with the coaching crew and players focused on securing a strong result against their Comorian opponents.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Eguavoen expressed confidence in the quality of his squad, particularly the team’s attacking options. However, he also stressed the importance of respecting Comoros and approaching the match with the right mentality.

Super Falcons Captain Rasheedat Ajibade also highlighted the importance of collective effort, noting that the absence of some players presents an opportunity for others in the squad to step up, demonstrate their quality and contribute to the team’s objectives.

Nigeria will be aiming to use their chances to secure a favourable result before the return leg, as they pursue qualification for the women’s football tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The Super Falcons, one of Africa’s most established women’s national teams, will be eager to take the first step towards returning to the Olympic stage.
