Super Falcons Forward Uchenna Kanu has shared an emotional message on her social media handle following Nigeria’s disappointing exit from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the subsequent setback in their quest for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Kanu acknowledged the difficult nature of the result, taking responsibility alongside her teammates while reflecting on the sacrifices and expectations that came with representing Nigeria at the tournament.

In her heartfelt message, she admitted that losing at the WAFCON and missing out on the World Cup is a painful disappointment that is difficult to put into words.

She also highlighted the efforts made behind the scenes by the players, noting the struggles, sacrifices, pride, and responsibility involved in wearing the Super Falcons badge.

“We gave everything but still wasn’t enough,” Kanu wrote, acknowledging the team’s efforts despite falling short of their objectives.

The Forward also directed her message to the millions of Nigerians who supported the team throughout their campaign, apologising for not being able to deliver the result they hoped for.

According to Kanu, while the setback represents a painful chapter for the Super Falcons, it will not define the team or its players.

She ended her message with a promise to reflect on the experience, regroup as a team, and return stronger from the disappointment.

“This is a painful chapter, but it will not define us. We will reflect, regroup, and come back stronger.”

For Kanu and the Super Falcons, the disappointment remains fresh, but the message reflects the team’s determination to learn from the experience and continue moving forward.
