The Nigeria’s Senior Women’s National Team and Falconets Goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma has earned a nomination for the 2026 CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award, following her remarkable performances at youth international level.

Uzoma has continued to demonstrate her development as one of Nigeria’s emerging goalkeeping talents, having progressed through the country’s women’s national teams.

She previously represented Nigeria at the U-17 level during the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, gaining valuable international experience before earning opportunities with the Falconets and the senior national team.

The goalkeeper played a significant role in Nigeria’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, where she captained the Falconets and provided leadership at the back throughout the tournament.

One of her standout moments came during Nigeria’s Round of 16 encounter against England, where she produced a crucial penalty save, helping the Falconets maintain their advantage in an important knockout-stage fixture.

Her performances throughout the competition have now earned her recognition among the nominees for the prestigious 2026 CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award.

The nomination represents another important milestone in Uzoma’s international career and further highlights the growing presence of Nigeria’s young goalkeeping talents on the African football stage.
