BLESSING OKPE JOINS SUPER FALCONS CAMP FOR MAIDEN SENIOR NATIONAL TEAM CALL-UP

The Nigerian Forward Blessing Okpe has joined the Super Falcons’ camp in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, ahead of Nigeria’s 2028 Olympic qualifying fixture against Comoros, bringing the team’s camp strength to 27 players.

Okpe’s arrival completes the squad in camp and marks a significant milestone in her career, as she receives her first call-up to the Nigeria senior women’s national team following her impressive performances in Belarus.

The Forward currently plays for Dnepr Mogilev in the Belarusian Women’s Football League, where she has established herself as a reliable goalscorer. According to available league statistics, Okpe has scored 15 goals in 17 appearances for the club during the 2026 season, underlining the form that has helped earn her a maiden invitation to the senior national team.

Before moving to Dnepr Mogilev, Okpe featured for Belarusian side Dinamo Minsk and Turkish club Amed SK. She also previously played for Rivers Angels in Nigeria, where she made an impact during the 2024 President Federation Cup. She scored the decisive penalty in Rivers Angels’ 1–0 victory over Naija Ratels in the final and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The forward has also represented Nigeria at youth international level. She was part of the Falconets squad at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, gaining valuable experience on the international stage before earning her first opportunity with the senior team.

Her call-up comes as interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen adjusts his squad ahead of the Olympic qualifiers following several player withdrawals. Okpe is among the players brought in to strengthen Nigeria’s options as the Super Falcons prepare for the two-legged encounter against Comoros.

With her arrival, the Super Falcons now have 27 players in camp as preparations continue for the first leg at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, on Friday, October 9.

For Okpe, the invitation represents an opportunity to make the step up from youth international football to the senior national team and potentially make her debut as Nigeria pursue qualification for the women’s football tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
