Super Falcons attacker, Tony Payne, was in top form after playing a pivotal role in Sevilla Femenino’s convincing 3-0 victory over Eibar Femenino in the 15th matchday of the 2023-24 Spanish Primera División Femenina. The thrilling encounter took place at the Estadio Jesús Navas, the home stadium of Sevilla Femenino.
The first half witnessed both teams displaying disciplined defensive plays, with Eibar posing early questions. However, solid defensive efforts from the home side ensured a goalless first half.
In the 32nd minute however, Tony Payne nearly broke the deadlock with a right-footed shot from a challenging angle, beautifully orchestrated through teamwork with teammate Amanda Sampedro.
Sevilla emerged as the more aggressive side in the second half, securing their first goal in the 56th minute. Pamela González’s header, following Rosa Otermín’s cross from a corner, found the top right corner of the net. The momentum continued, and in the 69th minute, Cristina Martín-Prieto capitalized on a fast break to secure the second goal.
Although Tony Payne’s attempt in the 75th minute was blocked, Sevilla sealed the game with a third goal shortly after, courtesy of Cristina Martín-Prieto. The victory propels Sevilla to 6th place on the Spanish Women’s league standing with 28 points from 15 games.
