Before turning professional, Abiodun showcased her skills at the University of Pittsburgh, where she played for the Panthers. Her contributions earned her multiple accolades, including All-ACC Freshman Team and Third Team honors in 2023, and a spot on the Second Team in 2024.
Washington Spirit, known for their commitment to developing world-class talent, saw great potential in Abiodun. Head Coach Mark Parsons spoke highly of her during the unveiling ceremony in Washington, D.C., describing her as a “complete midfielder” and praising her work ethic, tactical sharpness, and ability to make an immediate impact.
“Deborah’s style of play aligns perfectly with our philosophy,” Parsons said. “She’s young, hungry, and ready to make a significant impact on our team and the league.”
