Randy Waldrum: “Everyone Know What’s At Stake”. We Are Confident.

Super Falcons’ Head Coach, Randy Waldrum, addressed the media ahead of the team’s upcoming second leg of the Paris Olympics final qualifying fixture against South Africa. The first leg saw the Nigerian team secure a narrow 1-0 victory in Abuja with a goal by team captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

When asked about his satisfaction with his team’s performance in the first leg, Waldrum expressed pride in his team’s performance: “I am really proud of the way we came out… We controlled the match… minimized their opportunities… It was one of our better performances since the World Cup.” While acknowledging the desire for more goals, he emphasized the team’s overall control and defensive solidity.

Waldrum also addressed some fans’ concerns about the narrow win: “I was a little surprised… some said we struggled… I don’t think we struggled at all.” He highlighted the team’s dominance and the importance of perspective: “Even if we scored a couple of goals… South Africans are capable of scoring… we still have to go with the same mindset.”

In conclusion, Waldrum reassured fans: “We will go into the match the same way, we will be confident…” He anticipates potential tactical adjustments but believes the core strength lies with the players: “Our players know what’s at stake… and I feel confident in our players that they will go and get the result.”
