In the wake of Nigeria’s triumphant qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, is leaving no stone unturned in his quest for success. With eyes set on Olympic gold, Waldrum is demanding a Europe camp for the Super Falcons to ensure optimal preparation for the prestigious tournament slated for July 2024.
Addressing the media after the hard-fought victory over South Africa, Waldrum emphasized the need for proper preparation ahead of the Olympic Games. “My challenge is to the Ministry of Sports and the NFF to help us prepare properly. We need to camp in Europe,” he asserted.
Acknowledging the formidable challenge that lies ahead, particularly in a tough group dubbed the “Group of Death,” Waldrum stressed the importance of meticulous planning and rigorous training.
“We need proper training, we need proper transportation, we need to do things right,” Waldrum explained. “These women deserve the opportunity to go represent our country Nigeria in the best possible way.”
The coach also highlighted the intense competition at the Olympics: “As we know, with the field being small at the Olympics, every team is a top team,” he remarked. “So, those are the things that come to mind because I’ve already started to think about what we need to do to get ready.”
With the Olympics just months away in July 2024, Waldrum is clear-eyed about the challenges ahead.
