- Rasheedat Ajibade| Vs Cameroon | WAFCON 2022
Rasheedat Ajibade’s lone goal secured a semifinal spot for the Super Falcons.
It was an important goal, which brought relieve to the Super Falcons. The match was played at the Stade Mohammed V, Casablanca.
Her jubilation was indeed a unique one, showing a lot of passion. An ecstatic Ajibade was seen celebrating with four of her teammates, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Ifeoma Onumonu and Uchenna Kanu. The iconic picture was placed on the website of CAF for sometime.
- Ngozi Okobi| Vs Sweden| FIFA World Cup 2015.
Nigeria Midfielder Ngozi Okobi scored perhaps one of her best ever goals in the game against Sweden, at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
She didn’t only score, but also assisted Francisca Ordega for the third goal, with a sublime pass.
The Super Falcons were trailing by two goals, from Åsa Nilla Maria Fischer and Desire Oparanozie’s own goal.
She literally cried after scoring and went straight to the reserve bench to celebrate with her teammates. It was such an emotional moment.
- Mercy Akide| Vs North Korea| FIFA Women’s World Cup 1999.
Regarded as one of the best World Cup goals, Mercy Akide turned heads with her superb goal against North Korea at the Rose Bowl.
An iconic goal and an iconic celebration, she got past two North Korean defenders, before unleashing a shot from an acute angle.
She was proud of the moment and was seen running to the sideline, while also rolling her hands in excitement, before her teammates came to celebrate with her.
The Super Falcons won the game 2-1.
- Perpetual Nkwocha| Vs Canada | FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011.
Perpetual Nkwocha scored in the 73rd minute against Canada to give the Super Falcons their first win at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Super Falcons had lost narrowly to both France and Germany in their first two opening games of the mundial and that win against Canada in the last group game was an important one, even though, Nigeria failed to make it through to the next round.
She ran to celebrate, but was caught up , by some of her teammates. It was a memorable celebration.
- Asisat Oshoala| Vs Australia| FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
With Nigeria leading 2-1, a mistake by Australia saw Oshoala get a loose ball in the danger zone to easily score her team’s third goal.
The Bay FC attacker celebrated by taking off her jersey and throwing it to the sky as her teammates joined her.
The Women’s World Cup Group B’s game played on Thursday eventually ended 3-2 in favour of the Super Falcons.
