Days After Winning CAF African Women’s Goalkeeper Of The Year, Chiamaka Nnadozie Makes Impact In UEFA Women’s Champions League

Just a few days after being crowned Africa’s Women Best Goalkeeper at the CAF Awards 2023, Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, has again showed her exceptional ability in a thrilling UEFA Women’s Champions League encounter.

The stage was set at Stade Charléty in Paris, France, as Paris FC Féminines took on Real Madrid Femenino in a highly intense UEFA Women’s Champions League Group Stage game.

Nandozie’s Paris FC Féminines won the encounter with a remarkable 2-1 victory over Real Madrid Femenino, and the Imo born goalkeeper emerged the hero of the match.

The Nigerian goalkeeper, who had been named the CAF African Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year just days prior, exhibited her prowess by saving a crucial penalty from Real Madrid defender Olga Carmona in the 28th minute.

Paris FC Féminines dominated early in the game, scoring two quick goals in the 2nd and 6th minutes. Despite Real Madrid Femenino’s persistence, Nnadozie’s safe pair of hands denied them multiple attempts at goal, including a challenging 43rd-minute effort by Teresa Abelleira.

The persistence of Real Madrid Femenino finally paid off in the 53rd minute when Caroline Møller’s left-footed shot from close range found the back of the net. However, Nnadozie continued to show her excellence by saving several other attempts on goal.

After the win, Paris FC Féminines now sits in 3rd place on the 2023/24 Women’s Champions League Group D table with 3 points, trailing leaders HK Hacken Women by 3 points and second-placed Chelsea FC Women by 1 point.

Chiamaka Nnadozie’s remarkable penalty-saving record is truly a testament to her extraordinary goalkeeping skills. Since July, she has saved penalties against formidable opponents, including Canada, Arsenal, Wolfsburg, and now Real Madrid. Her exceptional talent and contributions to the Super Falcons and Paris FC underline why she was named the African Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

In a post-match reflection, fans and football enthusiasts can’t help but marvel at the gift Chiamaka Nnadozie brings to the game. Her ability to shine on both the domestic and international stages marks her as a true asset, not just to Paris FC Féminines but to the entire generation of football enthusiasts who get to witness her incredible talent. With Nnadozie guarding the goalposts, the future of women’s football indeed looks bright.
