A brilliant brace from star forward Rashidat Ajibade secured a 2-0 victory for the Super Falcons of Nigeria against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The highly anticipated clash, held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State, served as part of Nigeria’s build-up to the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled for Morocco next month.
The Super Falcons took control of the game early on and broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Ajibade was brought down in the box and calmly converted the resulting penalty.

With Nigeria’s attack in full flow, the Cameroonian defence struggled to contain the lively Ajibade, who recently parted ways with Atlético Madrid. The forward’s relentless pressure paid off again two minutes before halftime. A sublime through-ball from Omorinsola Babajide carved open the Cameroonian backline, and Ajibade made no mistake, slotting past the goalkeeper for Nigeria’s second of the day.

Cameroon showed more urgency after the restart, pushing forward in search of a response. Their closest chance came deep into stoppage time, but Super Falcons’ goalkeeper and reigning CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Chiamaka Nnadozie, produced a stunning save to preserve Nigeria’s clean sheet.
The win marked Nigeria’s 15th triumph over Cameroon in 21 meetings, further asserting their dominance in African women’s football. Initially, both teams were scheduled to play two matches, but a delayed arrival by the Cameroonian contingent meant only one fixture was possible.
As the Super Falcons now shift focus to WAFCON 2025, Tuesday’s commanding performance offers a timely confidence boost ahead of their continental campaign in Morocco.
