Flamingos Arrive in Pretoria, Fired Up for U17 World Cup Qualifier Against South Africa

Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have arrived in Pretoria, South Africa, ahead of their crucial FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second-round, first-leg qualifier against Bantwana, set for Saturday, March 8, 2025. The team, brimming with confidence and determination, is focused on securing a vital away victory to boost their chances of progressing to the next stage of the tournament.

Touching down at OR Tambo International Airport in the early hours of Thursday, the Flamingos had an inspiring encounter with African football royalty, four-time African Player of the Year, Africa Cup of Nations all-time top scorer, and President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o Fils.

The legendary striker’s presence and words of encouragement served as a morale booster for the young Nigerian squad as they prepare to take on their South African counterparts.

With rigorous training sessions lined up before matchday, the Flamingos remain resolute in their ambition to claim a positive result on enemy territory. The coaching crew and players have assured fans of their readiness to give their best, as they aim to edge closer to securing a spot at the prestigious 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
