Chidinma Okeke Back in the Falcons Fold after Impressing with MyNavi Sendai Ladies in Japan.

Former FC Robo player Chidinma Okeke is back in the Super Falcons after a string of impressive performances for MyNavi Sendai Ladies in Japan’s WE League. This recent recall marks a return to the national team fold after her over three-year absence.

Okeke previously enjoyed a stint with the Super Falcons, even making the squad for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup with an assist.

However, she battled with a series of injuries, particularly to her knee, which forced her to be sidelined for a lengthy period and threatened to derail her career. Today, Okeke’s return to form is nothing short of inspiring.

In August 2019, Okeke embarked on a new chapter by signing for Madrid CFF in the Spanish Primera División, marking her debut in a memorable win against Real Betis. Despite her brief stint in Spain, Okeke’s journey took her to Israel, where she continued to pursue her passion for the game with Hapoel Bea Sheva before finally landing at MyNavi Sendai Ladies in Japan.

The move to Japan has proven pivotal for Okeke. She has established herself as a regular starter for MyNavi Sendai Ladies, contributing to their current sixth-place position in the league table. Her confidence, defensive abilities, and physical strength have shone through, catching the eye of the Super Falcons’ coaching staff.

Having left her injury woes behind, Okeke’s impressive form have not gone unnoticed, leading to her long-awaited recall to the Super Falcons squad for the crucial 2024 Olympics final qualifying fixtures against South Africa in April. This return to the Super Falcons signifies a successful resurgence for Okeke, who has rediscovered her form and earned back her place on the national stage.

With her renewed vigor and passion for the game, Okeke is poised to make a significant impact on both club and country, inspiring aspiring footballers around the world with her story of resilience and redemption.
